Sharon Bilman, Founder
Sharon is game designer and writer for children’s media. She began making software in the glory days of new media, when data rates were small and budgets were big. She learned the ropes at Black Hammer Production, where she wrote Lingo scripts, picked at pixels, and charmed clients. At Scholastic, Sharon became thoroughly versed in children’s media from concept to completion. Sharon lives in Hastings on Hudson, NY with her three boys. She plays with them everyday.
Amy Kraft, Founder
Amy wears the hats of game designer, writer, producer, and strategist and has been working in kids’ media since the good ol’ days of CD-ROMs. She began her career as a producer at Scholastic, and has since consulted with companies including Barnes and Noble, Speakaboos, Hooked on Phonics, Leap Frog, and Sylvan. She also has blogged about kids’ games and media for Wired’s GeekMom.com, Scholastic Parents, and her own blog, Media Macaroni. Amy lives in NYC with her husband and two kids.
David Park, Collaborator
David has spent the last two decades working in the fund raising and alumni relations arena at Columbia University. After some early dabbling in grant writing, donor research, cold calling, and light typing, he found his niche as the data and technology guy. For the past decade or so he's focused on web application development and, more recently, on mobile apps. David lives in NYC with his wife and son.
Tim Goldman, Collaborator
Tim is an illustrator and designer working in a variety of industries including marketing, educational publishing and entertainment. He began his career as an art director in Chicago working on various accounts including Target and Marshall Field's. He then went on to work as a freelance artist creating illustrations and graphics for a variety of clients including Disney, Scholastic, NBA/WNBA, Silvan, The Princeton Review and The Wall Street Journal. He is also involved with licensing his designs for products online with decalgirl.com. Tim currently lives in Queens, NY with his partner and his cat Dotty.
Dr. Carla Fisher, Advisor
Carla is a game designer and children’s media strategist, and is currently the Director of Product Innovation, Kids and Family, at Netflix. She’s had a hand in creating and researching more than 300 games for children and families, including Stride & Prejudice (iOS), Williamspurrrrg HD: A Game of Cat and Mustache (iPad), Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece for Nintendo Wii, and Art Lab from the Museum of Modern Art (iPad). She is recognized internationally for her writing and speaking about best practices for children’s games and education and is the author of Designing Games for Children: Development, Usability, and Design Considerations for Making Great Games for Kids (Winter 2014, Focal Press). She holds a doctorate in instructional technology and media from Columbia University and a master’s degree in media studies from the New School University.
Mary Kraft, Advisor
Mary has significant experience from business startup through management of growth and acquisition phases. She has provided leadership in establishing corporate structure, business management processes, and financial management. Mary's experience as a CFO and VP Administration includes working with several software and services firms in startup and business growth. Mary is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin.
